Target and the Smithfield Police Department hosted National Night Out at The Crossing at Smithfield on Tuesday, Aug. 5, from 3 p.m. until dusk.
National Night Out is a unique crime and drug prevention event that involves citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from more than 10,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide.
Other stores at The Crossing at Smithfield participated in the event are: Uno Chicago Grill, Home Depot, Dick's Sporting Goods, Jos. A. Bank, Chico's, Kohls and Verizon. The Smithfield Fire Department and the North Central Chamber of Commerce are also involved.
The Smithfield Vikings were honored at the event.

The Smithfield Vikings' football players and cheerleaders joined forces Saturday, August 23rd from 12:00PM-4:00PM at a “Co-Ed Car Wash” at Sovereign Bank on Putnam Pike to raise money for their organization. “Due to the success of this event, The Smithfield Vikings are another step closer to their goal of getting new uniforms,” said Mike Montella, Treasurer of the Vikings’ Organization.

Player and cheerleader that were in attendence were James Flanagan, Dave Parrillo, Billy D'Amico, Angela Evers, Sean Kilduff, Kaitlyn Bruno, Troy Bouthillette, Mike Benett, Dylan Fortin.

Another car wash at Sovereign Bank is scheduled for Saturday, September 20th from 12:00PM-4:00PM. There is a $5.00 donation per vehicle.
