WEEK 12 (FWFA Semi-Final)

 VS.

8/28/8 - The Grizzlies are scheduled to play the New Mexico Razorbacks, the 9 - 0 Champions from the New Mexico Amateur Football League (NMAFL) on Saturday, September 20, 2008.  The Razorbacks claimed their title in a close 7 - 0 battle with the Alamagordo Desert Dawgs.  There's lots of history between the Razorbacks and CFC, more specifically the Denver Titans.  Back in the midst of their 6 consecutive Championship run, the Titans played the Razorbacks three straight years, beating the Razorbacks all three times.  The winner of this game will travel to Nevada on December 6th to take on the West Coast semi-final winner.

Location for this game will be Aurora Public School's Hinkley High School on the 20th of September with kickoff at 6:00 sharp.  More information later.......

The two divisional All Star teams will be combined to play a game against the Air Force JV team on September 5th down in Colorado Springs.  This will require a practice couple of practice dates.

The Grizzlies are proud to announce that Bethel 33 of Job's Daughters International will be handling all Grizz home game concessions through the 2008 season. This is a fund raising opportunity for the girls, so please do your duty to eat and drink up at the games.

PRACTICE THURSDAY

8/20/8 - The Grizzlies' next practice is Thursday evening, August 21. Practice starts at 6:15.

GOING TO AFGHANISTAN

Right now, Grizzlies' defensive lineman John "Little John" Covington (we call him Little John because he's 6'9") is probably doing some last minute packing as he prepares for another trip East.  To the Middle East.  Within a week or so, John is headed to Afghanistan for a year, leaving his family behind for the second time. John played for the Grizzlies in 2006.  In 2007, he did a year long stint in Iraq.  I'll admit, he didn't come back in the best of shape after Iraq, pulling into town in March this year, but he got himself back in to playing shape for this season only to find out he was going to make the trip again.  John was a communication specialist (data/voice infrastructure) in the military until two years ago.  Now, he's a contractor fulfilling the same duties for a bit more pay.

John, good luck, be careful, and we'll see you in another year.
