JUNIOR LAXERS CLINIC FOR BOYS IN GRADES K THRU 3
This year, the Boys' Lacrosse Coaching Staff is planning on holding several 'Junior Laxers Clinics" for some of the younger members of the SAA. Boys in K, first, second and third grades that are not already playing on the 2 & 3 grade clinic team, will be able to participate in the Junior Laxers Clinics. The goal of theses special sessions is to exposed some of our younger members to the game of lacrosse and teach some basic skills to the boys without the expense and commitment required by the travel teams. Each boy must bring a lacrosse stick to the session. The SAA will provide helmets for the boys to use during the clinic. No other protective equipment will be required. No registration is required. The dates, times and locations of these sessions will be posted on this site (probably in the April-May timeframe).
ALL TOWNSHIP & SCHOOL DISTRICT Fields are Closed to Lacrosse at this time
EXPERIENCED LACROSSE PLAYERS NEEDED TO COACH
Springfield Lacrosse needs coaching volunteers to field all the teams. If there are not enough coaches for all the teams based on the registration numbers, we may have to institute a waiting list and add teams provided there are volunteer coaches available and there are enough boys on the waiting list to field a team. Anyone interested (or if you know of anyone) in coaching, assisting, or helping with the administration of any of the teams, please contact Chris DeBernardi
FACTS ABOUT LACROSSE BALLS (from Inside Lacrosse)
- Every lax ball you have ever picked up, thrown, shot, lost or broke a window with was made in China
- Lacrosse balls sink
- Roughly five million lacross balls are produced each year
- On average, a Division I teams goes though about 2,000 balls per year
EVALUATIONS FOR THE 2009 TRAVEL LACROSSE TEAMS
Players on the 'A1' and 'B1' level teams are expected to make a commitment to lacrosse over other recreational and youth sports activities. The A1 and B1 teams will participate in Tournaments in addition to playing the SEPYLA league schedule. Absences from practices and games may lead to reduced playing time and possible dismissal from the team. Players wishing to play a travel schedule but unable to make this kind of commitment should let the coaches know that they wish to play on the a 'A2/3'and 'B2/3'level travel teams. At all levels, excessive or unexcused absences may lead to reduced playing time.
All players must register for the 2009 SAA season (normal registration in January, 2009).
